Yes. Alaska authorized Remote Online Notarization with SB 124, effective January 1, 2021. The relevant statute is AS §§44.50.010 to 44.50.200. A document notarized online by a Alaska-commissioned online notary has the same legal effect as an in-person notarization.
Do I need to be physically located in Alaska?
No — you do not need to be in Alaska. The notary must be physically located in Alaska at the time of the act, but you (the signer) can be anywhere in the world. This is a defining feature of §44.50.075.
What kind of ID do I need?
A current government-issued photo ID: Alaska driver's license or state ID, U.S. passport, or military ID. Alaska requires "satisfactory evidence" of identity; we meet it through credential analysis (ID scan) plus live biometric facial recognition matching you to your ID photo.
