Closed on our Lakeview condo from the hospital. The title company sent the docs over and 12 minutes later we had a sealed Quitclaim Deed in their inbox. The biometric ID match took seconds.

Run an LLC out of Naperville and used to drive into the city for notary work. Did three operating-agreement amendments last Sunday at midnight. The notary knew Illinois formation docs cold.

Needed a Statutory Durable POA for my mom in Springfield while I'm stationed overseas. We connected on video, walked through it page by page. Patient and kind.

Frequently asked

Illinoisans have asked these questions

The answers below are specific to Illinois law. If your situation is more complex, contact us — we're here to help.

Is online notarization actually legal in Illinois?
Yes. Illinois authorized permanent Remote Online Notarization with Public Act 102-160, effective June 30, 2022. The relevant statute is 5 ILCS 312/6A-101 et seq. A document notarized online by an Illinois-commissioned electronic notary has the same legal effect as an in-person notarization.
Do I need to be physically located in Illinois?
No — you do not need to be in Illinois. The notary must be physically located in Illinois at the time of the act, but you (the signer) can be anywhere in the world.
What kind of ID do I need?
A current government-issued photo ID: Illinois driver's license, Illinois state ID, U.S. passport, or military ID. Illinois requires "satisfactory evidence" of identity; we meet it through credential analysis (ID scan) plus live biometric facial recognition matching you to your ID photo.
Are there documents that cannot be notarized online in Illinois?
Most Illinois documents can be notarized online. A few narrow exceptions apply — testamentary documents follow specific procedures, and some federal immigration forms (e.g., I-9 employment verification when performed by the employer's agent) require specific procedures.
How much does a notarization cost?
$25 per notarial act. The Illinois maximum statutory fee for an online notarization is $25 per signature (5 ILCS 312/3-104). Our price matches the statutory max — never higher — with no subscription, no "platform fee," and no per-seal upcharge.
Do you offer pricing discounts for multiple documents?
Yes. The state caps the per-act fee, but our platform supports notarizing multiple documents in a single session, and we offer volume and business pricing. See the full fee schedule for details.
Will an Illinois county recorder accept an online notarization?
Yes. A notarization by an Illinois-commissioned electronic notary is recorded in their state-registered electronic journal and carries the notary's state-issued electronic seal and certificate. Illinois county recorders are required to accept it for recording the same as an in-person notarization.
