Is online notarization actually legal in Oklahoma?
Yes. Oklahoma authorized Remote Online Notarization with SB 915, effective January 1, 2020. The relevant statute is tit. 49 §§1–18. A document notarized online by a Oklahoma-commissioned online notary has the same legal effect as an in-person notarization.
Do I need to be physically located in Oklahoma?
No — you do not need to be in Oklahoma. The notary must be physically located in Oklahoma at the time of the act, but you (the signer) can be anywhere in the world. This is a defining feature of §11.
What kind of ID do I need?
A current government-issued photo ID: Oklahoma driver's license or state ID, U.S. passport, or military ID. The statute requires "satisfactory evidence" of identity; we meet this through credential analysis (ID scan) plus knowledge-based authentication (KBA) pulled from public records.
Are there documents that cannot be notarized online in Oklahoma?
