Senate Bill 841 was temprarily authorized due to COVID-19 in April of 2020 to enable Remote Online Notarization (RON). In October of the 2021, the Governor signed Act 97 into law, allowing online notarization to become a permanent part of Pennsylvania Law. Pennsylvania notaries must complete an application approved by the Department of State's Bureau of Elections and Notaries to provide RON services. Of course, they must also have an up to date commission as a traditional notary as well.
